Aug 21, 2012 · Popping thru the carbs could possibly be caused by dirty carbs or else it is running lean and needs to be rejetted. Did you do any motor upgrades recently that may cause it to need to be rejetted (e.g., installed aftermarket exhaust, drilled holes in the airbox, install a high flow air filter, etc.)?
After having the carb rebuilt and then replaced it stopped for a while. Then it started again, backfiring upon operation, spewing gas out the carb and then backfiring when shutting it off. Briggs and stratton then replaced the engine after two years of fighting with them and more than $1000.00 spent on their part.
